The first ever ZOO Litter Letters at Mesker Park Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Evansville, Indiana!
Inspired to take action and show the impact of litter on our environment in their community these ZOO Litter Letters debuted during their Party for the Planet on Earth Day weekend.
Armed with litter pickers, waste bags, and neon vests, staff volunteered their time to pick up litter around the edges of Zoo grounds. They created life-size letters from rebar and chicken wire and filled each letter as a visual symbol of how the actions of those littering in our community impact our neighborhoods.
They asked local citizens to help fight this problem by suggesting : 1) Take 10 minutes to pick up the trash around your yard or in your neighborhood. 2) Join Mayor Lloyd Winnecke for Clean Evansville Clean Up Days.3) Volunteer with Keep Evansville Beautiful and participate in their Great American Cleanup initiative. Thanks to Hope Mills for the images.
